“There is oppressiveness in a good image, so I want to have a little change this time”, laughs Ko-vid (Ko Soo). Ko Soo has now taken on a new challenge through a starring role in GOJIJEON, a Korean war blockbuster. In this movie, he transforms from a good guy character into a military personnel with multiple personalities.

GOJIJEON draws the story from the fierce battle between the North and South for a 2.5 km strip of land during the summer of 1953 when cease-fire negotiations were about to begin.

In the movie, Ko Soo started out as a timid, cowardly college student who was enlisted to the front line. He later went on to become a tough military leader and a hero.

Ko Soo, who met reporters recently, said: “I feel very attached to this movie because the work entailed much physical as well as mental abilities”. “It will please me very much to hear from everyone of the audience that I have changed, even a little”, smiled Ko Soo.

As an actor who is representative of the ‘good guy’ image, Ko Soo has now fulfilled his dream of doing an entirely different role.

Director Jang Hun said this of Ko Soo, “The change in Ko Soo is the key point of this movie and his transformation is much anticipated by all”.

Ko Soo confided that people are comfortable with him playing the good natured role so it is easy for him. But it may not be so when he plays a completely different role. However, he takes comfort in the fact that he has to break out from easy roles. This therefore gave him strength.

Ko Soo has been called “Firewood Ko Soo” because of his ability to ‘chop’ firewood efficiently on the set. “Most importantly, I was able to build a strong friendship with elder brother Shin Ha Kyun and Ryu Seong Soo during the filming of GOJIJEON”, said Ko Soo.
