Actor Ko Soo said, “Lieutenant Kim Soo Hyuk is not a villain but a victim of the hellish war”.

In GOJIJEON, Ko Soo is Kim Soo Hyuk, a leader of the South Korean government Alligator Squadron (a 2nd class army regiment). Because of his bravery in saving many South Korean troops, he is given a special promotion to the rank of Lieutenant.

Soo Hyuk is portrayed as a cold blooded fellow who will shoot dead any captive prisoner from the North Korean army. Not even a younger brother is spared.

In an interview on 15th July, Ko Soo explained, “Soo Hyuk appears to be a fan of the war, but he is actually a person who anxiously awaits the end of war more than anyone else. I think he is not a bad person. Putting on a cruel and cool headed front is the only way he can keep more of his men alive”.

The young Soo Hyuk is a timid youth. In a scene from the movie, young Soo Hyuk is seen throwing away his gun and grasping his cross. But he starts to change after experiencing trauma from the war. He changes 180 degree to a different person without even knowing why.

“From expressing a young timid Soo Hyuk with glasses in the beginning to his demise in the end, I really feel tired and exhausted. But it is a blessing to have worked with Director Jang and all the wonderful cast and crew”.

ซึ่งเป็นหนทางเดียวที่จะรักษาชีวิตของของเหล่าทหารของเขาไว้ได้
